This is my first entry to repaneled.
It comes from ‘Green Terror’, a great little horror story in which a jealous, murderous cactus kills pretty much everyone; two men (one moustached so had it coming) an innocent woman and even the itself!
Need I say more.
I started with a rough sketch then scanned it in and went over the lines with a blue brush tool in photoshop. The intention was to change the colour of the lines then digitally paint and colour it in a similar fashion to the original panel. However things took on a life of their own and I found myself doing something sligtly different and abstract. The great part was it didn’t take me that long to do (as opposed to a cover) as I worked straight off the sketch.
I wanted to get a kind of 1950’s feel with the colours and think I got it. I mean i’m never going to really know because I’ve never been to the 50’s. All I know is what i’ve seen in books or on TV…and seen in thrift shops.
