Fictional Albums: The Ackroyds

November 1, 2013

This one isn’t an album cover, it’s a single cover. For hit 60’s band The Ackroyds.

The Ackroyds never had an album. Whenever they did shows they would get on stage and play their single ‘Take Care of Your Columbians’ ten times in a row and then leave.

They refused to do encores.

Fictional Albums: Circle of Bastard

January 31, 2013

I realise I haven’t done one of these for a while so I’m going to give you this fake album based on a real fictional band if that’s clear enough.

Circle of Bastard Album Cover - Joshua Kahan

Circle (as they’re known amongst fans) are an intense metal act that often bleed on stage. I hope people understand the type of band they are, if not then you’ll just have to sit this one out. There are plans somewhere down the line to record these songs, I’m just not sure when.

Circle of Bastard
– Gimme Your Teeth
– My Heart Just Tastes of Blood
– Spit-Roasted by the Pain of Life
– All I do is Burn
– Agony of Life (pt.IV revisited)

Fictional Albums: Kelly Toxin

November 11, 2012

There’s not a lot to creating these, usually I’ll be playing around with an image or images and then the magic hits. By which I mean my brother and I will stare at the image and shout words at the screen whilst one of us types.

By this method we can expect to produce entire track listings and further albums for the fictional artist.

This is a picture of my friend Perrie that popped up on facebook and after seeing had to comandeer/appropriate for a higher purpose.

Ups and Downs - Kelly Toxin

Apprently Kelly is like folk-disco Bon Iver with a drum machine. The Track listing for ‘Ups & Downs‘ is as follows:

1) Did I pull through?
2) Toxin
3) Ch-ch-chernobyl
4) Kettle Mix Disco Mix
5) Hangry
6) Biscuit Trampp
7) Pan!
8) My cat says woof
9) Saint touchdown
10) You should know
11) Brought the funk, you weren’t there – (dependent on whether you bought the european release)
12) Touch it.

Fictional Albums: Lipsticker

October 23, 2012

Every once in a while I am divinely inspired and I will channel that energy the only way I know how: Making fictional album covers.

I’m not sure why, although I guess it started with ‘Lipsticker’ a fictional band famous for the song ‘Mushroom Soup’ my mate Jon created when he was a kid.

“Lipsticker…just happened…

I actually think they may have originally been called Slapsticker but changed over time. I performed Mushroom Soup completely randomly in my back garden it was just me talking gibberish…with my mind thinking i was a hairy metaller type guy in a cape (a sort of Dani Filth type thing) singing about being gay with the drummer. I think that was my imagination going to extreme”

I made up some art using a couple of old photos then Jon, my brother and I came up with the rest of the track listings and band members collectively. We even recorded it! And I did a music video for it, which if you’re dying to see can be seen here, password protected for your own good. PW: creamy

Fresh from 2005!

Lipsticker (self titled album)

1) Mushroom Soup
2) Brutal Hole
3) Sluts in My Colon
4) (I came here by) Helicopter
5) Japanese Fistfuck
6) Homonopoly
7) King Speedo
8) Tossing the Salad Makes My tongue Bleed
9) Bighorn Sabotage
10) Bonus Track: Cash-Cash-Castrato

Vocals: Box
Guitar: Jerry Malaria
Bass: Wayne Acid
Durms: Gürth

Whilst not the best album cover, it was the first. They do get better (I assure you) and I will be posting albums every now and then with complete track listings and a bit of background info about the band, so stay tuned!
