March MODOK Madness Again

March 25, 2016

It’s March MODOK Madness again, and it’s been a while since I’ve done one so this year I have done two, one of which is slightly topical. I’ll let you decide which.

You can find them here and here or just have a look below. I even went one better and created a little gif breaking down the steps.

March Modok Madness

March 25, 2013

March is March Modok Madness just like November is Movember and January is Fanuary. Such are the times that we live in.

Modok, for all that don’t know is a a Marvel character created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. As a result of his head being so large his body is unable to support its weight and so he has to skoot around in a hover chair. On the plus side he can do a whole bunch of things like shoot mind blasts and generate force fields with his mind!

Stuff like that.

Oh and his name is an acronym: Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. What does yours stand for?

Exactly.

My two of my sumbissions for 2013 can be found here and here and recieved a nice little write up. For those too lazy to click the links here they are:

Don’t Give Me No Lip Shitface!

May 20, 2011

I’ve done another repanel (finally got round to finishing it).

It’s from Testicles the Tautologust (pronounced ‘testicleez’) by Jaxon (aka Jack Jackson). You can read the oringinal story HERE and highly recommend that you do. Also check out his other works too!

It’s a great Conan parody and I chose the panel where the old skool frazetta Conan mashes the face of the Marvel pretty boy conan.

Jaxons art work is fantastic. It’s gritty, raw and his characters often speak in a contemporary way regardless of where in time/space the story is set. That’s one of the main things I admire about his work because not only does it add a different kind of humour, it makes the story the much easier to relate due to the familiarity of language.

I kind of prefer the original to my version, mostly because more power is conveyed in the punch and the framing is a lot tighter. It’s still all good fun.

Japanese Spiderman

March 8, 2010

Ok, so silly videos are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Here’s one I found a short while back and have been itching to share.

I love the little disco bada-bum bada-bum things they have in the catchy opening music that’s half the fun right there.

The other half is the great story behind why this was made and why spiderman has his own robot (as if he’d need one – pah!).

Marvel made a deal with Toei that meant for 4 years they could do whatever the sam hell they wanted to with him. Bloody genius is what it is. There need to be more giant robots on tv, it’s something that I find programmes distinctly lack these days. We live in dark times indeed.
