Jimmy Corrigan Repaneled

September 18, 2011

Here’s my latest repanel from Jimmy Corrigan by Chris Ware, it’s been quite a while and am hoping I have enough time to get back into it. There’s some great stuff on it as well as covered, rejected by covered and cornered.

Ch-Check ’em out!

The Thing #6 on Rejected by Covered

February 17, 2011

Here’s another rejected entry that now has a home on ‘Rejected by covered’.

I would really like to start doing more of these, I just don’t seem to have the time at the moment and that makes me a sad panda.

The Thing used to be in a gang so it’s only natural to make him into a ‘thug representin’ the Fo’ (fantastic four for those that aren’t down with the street) Ah Jea!

Wolverine #1 on Rejected by Covered

January 29, 2011

This is sort of a re-post.

One of my entires that was rejected from covered is now on ‘Rejected by covered’ a site that has all the entries that didn’t make the cut into covered for one reason or another. There are some really great ones on there, so don’t know why they got rejected.

Here it is again: Wolverine #1 Originally by Frank Miller

I personally think that wolverine has to look slightly feral and demented. Anyone with adamantium laced bones a healing factor and a shadowy past will invariably have some problems.

The Shadow Re-Pulped

January 27, 2011

My first entry to Repulped went online today. Issue #12 of The Shadow from 1932.

Repulped is a bit like covered, only it’s pulp covers instead of comics.

If you haven’t already, check out check out, Repulped, along with Covered, Re-paneled and Cornered. All good fun.

Unpublished Entries

September 13, 2010

Here are two unpublished covered entries that didn’t fit submission criteria for one reason or other.

I’ve stuck the original covers next to the covers so you can compare.

Wolverine #1, Frank Miller

I gave wolverine his blue and yellow costume because that’s the one I grew up seeing him in most. I also wanted to make him look completely mad and psychopathic. I reckon I could do better. I also like the idea of him having thin claws rather than giant meat cleavers, it seems more likely he’d be able to store those in his forearms. It’s all fantasy I know, but there is something called suspension of disbelief.

The Thing # 6, Ron Wilson

The Thing cover was too much of a parody, in fact it is a parody. I made all his gangsta paraphernalia Fantastic Four and Thing themed because I thought it’d be funnier if it had some relevance.

Weird Science Covered

April 3, 2010

I’ve just had my first entry to covered posted. I had been working on and off on it . The colouring took me the longest to do because there are so many to choose from! That, and I wanted to make my original black and white image as striking as possible without doing too much to it.

Didn’t work out that way. In any event it was good digital colouring practice.

You can see it here

I did two versions but went with the full coloured one because it seems more action packed and it looks nicer.

Two of The Best Things

January 21, 2010

It’s taken me a while to get round to posting because i’ve been finishing off a cover for covered in my spare time. I’ll post the B+W inked page as soon as it’s dry enough to scan.

I came across Jon Morris by covered (still my favourite thing on the internet). I found it particularly awesome that he effectively amalgamatated of two of my favourite things…

Star Wars and Batman.

Here’s my favourite:

I love the way he focuses on the little things that you wouldn’t think of first, but make the character, comic, film, etc memorable and wouldn’t be the same without. The drawings also made me laugh, so that counts for something.
