See Tom Cruise Run – Support the Cause!

May 22, 2014

I noticed that it has been a while since I last posted anything. This is probably because I have been posting doodles over here on an almost daily basis. Well that’s going to change. I’m going to be going back to the blog and putting stuff on my flickr too.

The main purpose of this post is to get people subscribed to the facebook page I have just launched for my first book ‘See Tom Cruise Run‘ which is now complete (please like it and share). I will be creating a kickstarter soon in order to raise the funds to print it. Unsuprisingly the book occupies a morally grey area that publishers don’t want to go near because unlike me they feel that they have something to lose.

To help spread the word please tweet about it, reblog, share the links with everyone and anyone you think might be interested in a humorous book about Tom Cruise running. Any help is appreciated. #seetomcruiserun #livedierepeat #liverunrpeat

The Outrage Book Cover

January 28, 2014

I finished this one off at 4am with an eyegraine and in dire need of sleep.

the outrage Book

In case you were wondering, no, the book is not real. It is as fictional as the author. I can however reveal an excerpt from the book but don’t tell the publishers (wink, wink):

‘She was outraged.

There she stood on the threshold of the dining room in what she once belived was her home, her beautiful home, to find Michael, the Daschund making love to her grand piano.

The rage took hold and she screamed. She screamed loudly.

It was like an earthquake.’

Why do I do this stuff?

The Legend of Arthilian Book Cover

August 14, 2012

Just over a month ago I did a book cover for a friend of mine; Daniel Marchant. He’s 14 and just written his first novel, a dark fantasy book called The Legend of Arthilian. I was asked if I would create a cover and since all the proceeds of the book go to pancreatic cancer I said yes.

Out of the two versions I proposed the top one was picked to be the final one.

…And Doodles For All

July 22, 2011

I never go anywhere without my sketch book, as a result I end up showing quite a lot of people my doodles…

(ahem)

The results are quite mixed. People are either enthusiastic about them or they just go silent.

I recently finished a sketch book, ending a 6 month era and it got me thinking. What am I going to do with all of these books that I have finished? Leave them in a dark corner gathering dust or show them to people? Would anyone even want to see them?

I figure if I put them online at least people have the option of seeing them and it’s always nice when someone gets a kick out of my work.

Thusly, I shall be posting new and old doodles since I have a fair amount of material from not too long ago that I think is worth sharing.

Here are two to start off with..

Upside Down

July 8, 2011

Some time ago, way back in April I was at Kapow Comic con in London. I met a friendly bunch of guys in Upside Comics who’s aim is to promote literacy in children and young people through comic books which i’m all for as there seems to be a celebration of deliquency and mediocrity these days in our culture. I’m referring specifically to television/film, music and video games.

I know I sound like a grumpy old bastard but anything that can curb this and educate people and get them to do something constructive is a good thing in my book (no pun intended).
I did a one page comic with a conflict and resolution.

First Day on the Job - Joshua Kahan

The hardest part was thinking of a situation, the drawing was…is…another story. I showed my mum and she said ‘it’s a bit primative’ which I quite like.

You too can do one, just follow the LINK, and follow the instructions.

Bogie Bastards

March 29, 2011

I once wrote a book…

When I was 7.

It was called Bogie Bastards.

I’ve written other books, but this one as far as I am aware was the first and last of it’s kind.

I guess the idea behind it was something in the same vein as an activity book since it contained an array of creativity from jokes and doodles to song parodies and very short stories such as my star trek fan fictions which consisted mostly of swear words.

What shocked me most were some of the ‘draw-er-rings wot I did’. The one that grabbed me most was the image in which the double quiffed protagonist is threatening an anonymous stranger in a doorway with a gun whilst verbally abusing him, all the while his penis protrudes from his trousers standing semi erect and pointing in the same direction as the gun.

And just to prove that I’m not lying here is said image:

What can I say, it was the 90’s.

I have thus been inspired to recapture the essence of the original and recreate the protagonist using my skillz.

I don’t think my parents will be too happy about me posting this. I’m not sure they’re even fully aware of my little masterpiece – but fuck it.

Some people may think that there was and still is something wrong with me and that I am a product of a twisted society and bizarre upbringing. Well you may be right, you may be wrong. Either way I couldn’t care less.
