Captain Planet #1 Remixed

April 17, 2013

The ony reason I’m posting this is because over time there have been numerous questionable search engine terms that have led people to my blog. The most recent (and not the first time I might add) was ‘batman porn blog‘. Therefore I see this as an opportunity to up the ante somewhat in this depraved game.

The other day I picked up a copy of Captain Planet and The Planeteers Comic #1 While flipping through it I found that some of the panels when taken out of context appealed to my purile and perverted sense of humour. Naturally I wanted to share this with the rest of the class so I paid the princely sum of 50 pence for the comic and did what any slightly bored and talented (whilst I’m at it; charming, handsome and modest) individual would do, and rearragend them into my own twisted little story…

March Modok Madness

March 25, 2013

March is March Modok Madness just like November is Movember and January is Fanuary. Such are the times that we live in.

Modok, for all that don’t know is a a Marvel character created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. As a result of his head being so large his body is unable to support its weight and so he has to skoot around in a hover chair. On the plus side he can do a whole bunch of things like shoot mind blasts and generate force fields with his mind!

Stuff like that.

Oh and his name is an acronym: Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. What does yours stand for?

Exactly.

My two of my sumbissions for 2013 can be found here and here and recieved a nice little write up. For those too lazy to click the links here they are:

I’m not sure what or when the next one will be but I am working on a new one of my own, a childrens book about Tom Cruise.

Stay tuned.

Fictional Albums: Circle of Bastard

January 31, 2013

I realise I haven’t done one of these for a while so I’m going to give you this fake album based on a real fictional band if that’s clear enough.

Circle of Bastard Album Cover - Joshua Kahan

Circle (as they’re known amongst fans) are an intense metal act that often bleed on stage. I hope people understand the type of band they are, if not then you’ll just have to sit this one out. There are plans somewhere down the line to record these songs, I’m just not sure when.

Circle of Bastard
– Gimme Your Teeth
– My Heart Just Tastes of Blood
– Spit-Roasted by the Pain of Life
– All I do is Burn
– Agony of Life (pt.IV revisited)

What Women Want

December 25, 2012

I don’t believe people really think about the practicalities of the things they off handedly request for Chirstmas. Having said that I don’t think people really want the things they say they do.

At about 2.40am yesterday morning I had the urge to animate a little.

16 hours later and I finished, only taking short breaks for eating and to use the toilet. More impressive (to me anyway) is the fact that I hadn’t slept since the previous day.

Despite the fact that there is still some colouring that I would have liked to have done, I don’t think it’s too much of a problem in the grand scheme of things. The main thing is that the joke comes across.

First thing I did was make a background. I then animated stick men straight ahead using the pencil tool, this was the quickest part of the process. I then went over this with the brush tool very loosely and coloured santa red.

Interestingly (to those that are interested) I recorded the audio about 14hrs in then spent 5 minutes on rough mouth movements which do the job well enough. I then spent an hour on sound and an hour putting it all together.

Wierd way of doing things.

Although I would not reccomend this method of working I find it amazing what a person can achieve when they’re on a roll. However as a result of going to sleep after awake being awake for 35hours my eye sockets hurt and part of my brain still isn’t responding yet insists on hitting itself against the inside of my skull.

Rapin’ and a Pillagin’

December 16, 2012

I work part time in a library and I often find students’ discarded photcopies. This was one of them that I felt had potential to become something greater than simple food for the bin.

There are a couple more coming up in this style but I’ll post them after I have finished my part of the comic Natalie and I have collaborated on.

It depresses me how long it is taking me to finish it because there’s not even a weeks worth of work to do, (sigh) paid work takes priority.

Fictional Albums: Kelly Toxin

November 11, 2012

There’s not a lot to creating these, usually I’ll be playing around with an image or images and then the magic hits. By which I mean my brother and I will stare at the image and shout words at the screen whilst one of us types.

By this method we can expect to produce entire track listings and further albums for the fictional artist.

This is a picture of my friend Perrie that popped up on facebook and after seeing had to comandeer/appropriate for a higher purpose.

Ups and Downs - Kelly Toxin

Apprently Kelly is like folk-disco Bon Iver with a drum machine. The Track listing for ‘Ups & Downs‘ is as follows:

1) Did I pull through?
2) Toxin
3) Ch-ch-chernobyl
4) Kettle Mix Disco Mix
5) Hangry
6) Biscuit Trampp
7) Pan!
8) My cat says woof
9) Saint touchdown
10) You should know
11) Brought the funk, you weren’t there – (dependent on whether you bought the european release)
12) Touch it.

Three Portraits of Willem Dafoe

October 29, 2012

After seeing Streets of Fire I was entranced. There was something very compelling about Mr Dafoes’ performance and his very striking face.

Willem Dafoe pencils - Joshua Kahan

This is the pencil work if you are a) interested and b) feel like inking/colouring your own version.

Willem Dafoe Water colour - Joshua KahanWillem Dafoe Ink - Joshua Kahan

These two bad boys were done with water colour and ink (using a dipping pen) and Ink/wash with a brush respectively. That is all.

Fictional Albums: Lipsticker

October 23, 2012

Every once in a while I am divinely inspired and I will channel that energy the only way I know how: Making fictional album covers.

I’m not sure why, although I guess it started with ‘Lipsticker’ a fictional band famous for the song ‘Mushroom Soup’ my mate Jon created when he was a kid.

“Lipsticker…just happened…

I actually think they may have originally been called Slapsticker but changed over time. I performed Mushroom Soup completely randomly in my back garden it was just me talking gibberish…with my mind thinking i was a hairy metaller type guy in a cape (a sort of Dani Filth type thing) singing about being gay with the drummer. I think that was my imagination going to extreme”

I made up some art using a couple of old photos then Jon, my brother and I came up with the rest of the track listings and band members collectively. We even recorded it! And I did a music video for it, which if you’re dying to see can be seen here, password protected for your own good. PW: creamy

Fresh from 2005!

Lipsticker (self titled album)

1) Mushroom Soup
2) Brutal Hole
3) Sluts in My Colon
4) (I came here by) Helicopter
5) Japanese Fistfuck
6) Homonopoly
7) King Speedo
8) Tossing the Salad Makes My tongue Bleed
9) Bighorn Sabotage
10) Bonus Track: Cash-Cash-Castrato

Vocals: Box
Guitar: Jerry Malaria
Bass: Wayne Acid
Durms: Gürth

Whilst not the best album cover, it was the first. They do get better (I assure you) and I will be posting albums every now and then with complete track listings and a bit of background info about the band, so stay tuned!
